Hi Mark,
Traditionally Estates have narrower tyres than the alloy wheeled sedans.
You might be able to find yourself some of metric looking alloys (that aren't actually metric - they do exist). They take a 165/70/14 tyre or you can comfortably put on 175/65/14 tyres on them.
The car might (at a pinch) be able to fit speedlines on that usually have 185/60/14 tyres. The larger (anthracite) speedlines I don't think would fit onto an estate. They are supposed to have 195/55/14 tyres on them.
If you decide to go to a Xantia rim you need to be careful as you change the rim size (ie 14 to 15inch) because you'll put your speedo out. Generally if you decide on a 15inch rim then you need tyres with a smaller profile to keep the same outer diameter.
IMHO you shouldn't really look for a rim that normally takes tyres larger than 185 wide and you should stick to 14inches to avoid other hassles.
Maybe someone else has a different opinion but that's mine.
