Fuel guage fault

Fuel guage fault
The needle is all over the place, nice flat road no problem. Go round a corner and the needle goes wild! I've swapped the sender as the previous one gave a false reading, when it got to ¼ full it went to ¾ when cornering and stayed there! Surly I can’t have 2 faulty sender or does the gauge have a ballet resistor which have lost the plot? Any ideas?

I believe this 3lead ribbon cable is rather easy to recognise in the fusebox. Try pull it out for a closer inspection over its full run under the carpetting (remove passenger seat for MUCH better access).

Out of 5 BX's I've had, this is the first with this fault and it's only started doing it last week, so that kinda puts a hole though that idea..........stuart_hedges wrote:They all do that Sir!
It's just part of the charm.
Both my ZX and my girlfriend's Xsara do about 160 miles on the first quarter tank, then about another 140 on the rest of the tank.

Sorry Mr B, I shouldn't be so flippant in the technical threads!
You could magically gain fuel in my old GS by stepping on the throttle, or going hard round left-hand bends.
I take the odd electrical fault as being part and parcel of liking old French cars. Others actually expect their cars to work properly. YMMV.
