Doubt it as at a guess, you'd need to change the pistons to drop the compression ratio. Turbos tend to run at a lower rate than NAs. They don't just bolt on a turbo and hope for the best!the_baron wrote:Would it be easier to plonk a turbo from a Xantia onto a 19 N/A engine?

No, neither has that provision unfortunately. Just had an idea - the 205 turbodiesel was the same capacity as the BX, and some models were fitted with power steering. This was driven from the end of the camshaft in the same manner as the BX HP pump, so that would be more of a straight swap. Again though, the difficulty may be in getting a good used engine...
