BX Foglight bulbs
My observation on the headlight modification is that the original headlamps are NOT fused. The sidelamps are but they are spread over a number of fuses.
This is for safety reasons - loosing your headlamps suddenly on a dark road is not something to be recommended - and so Citroen in common with most manufacturers deal with the problems of fuses blowing by simply not using any!
What I would do is to use the circuit for each lamp - bit expensive on relays but better than an accident.
Actually thinking briefly about it - I don't think there is any reason why you shouldn't leave the existing wiring in place and simply use the new wiring with the relay in parallel - ie providing a better path and full voltage. No doubt someone will give me a good reason why this will not work/set the car on fire etc.

I'm going to leave the existing wiring there but put each headlamp on it's own fused supply. Therefore if one blows a fuse, there's still the other there; purely for safety purposes.
The way i'm planning to set it up is to use four relays.
One for the left low beam
One for the left high beam
One for the right low beam
One for the left high beam
I'm also planning to use expensive, low resistance wire and place the relays in the relay housing just behind the battery.
Don't quite know yet if I should run a separate supply wire for each relay from the battery or run one really thick one and split it.
Still in the planning stages so any suggestions would be great. I'm keen on simplifying the setup so will sleep on it and most likely scrap the above idea!

Fair comment on the fuses.
I considered failure modes for a while myself, and decided that if my low beam failed , I would immediately switch to the high beam anyway as a natural reaction.
You could simply omit the fuses as Jeremy suggested, or fit a higher rating fuse as it would be more reliable.
One fuse per headlamp filament after the relay is a nice compromise.
Relays are very reliable too.
I don't think dim dip is worth keeping, modern cars don't appear to have it anyway.

I'm wondering if I am going to bother with fuses because firstly the originals aren't fused anyway, and secondly there's not a hell of a lot that can go wrong between a battery, relay and a bulb!
My only concern is that in the event (god forbid!) if a collision the headlams wires could short somewhere and possibly cause a fire. It's a remote possibility cause it has EFI and the fuel is well protected but it is still possible. What do we think gents?
