I suspect this is a job for a grade A masochist only.

I could provide some Mk1 schematics from the Revue Technique for either petrol or diesel if required - but I feel there are far too many differences. You also would have to replace the entire dashboard, which would include ventilation and heating controls, and radio console,.

You'd probably also be:

(1) Replacing a number of looms, or failing that, rewiring an awful lot of connectors.
(2) Replacing or modding the interconnection box
(3) Having to provide alternate and appropriate inputs for some completely different instrument types (e.g. bar-type speedo displays on most Mk 1 BXs as opposed to dial)

Do I need to go on?
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

So its possible

I have a entire mark II dask complete with all that stuff (well should do its sitting in a Dead MarkII)

The thought was going thru my head after seeing a Mark 1 with a faulty speedo for sale. Odd of fixing a Mark 1 speedo remote unless something simple like loose connection.

No airbags were ever fitted to any BX model - from factory that is.

I believe you are puzzled by the neat lid for the undertray glove compartment. Thats available in medium to high spec BX'es. Complete with a lock that takes the door key.

Are you sure that the car in the photo isn't actually a MK2 car with a MK1 front end on it? I've seen that done before, and it would be significantly easier than changing a dashboard.

Good point David

Anders, I dont see no lock or key in that picture. What your saying is there was a second glovebox fitted to that BX?

You learn something new ever day with a BX thats for sure.

You drive on the correct side over there don't you kiwi? The second glovebox wasn't available on RHD cars.

its illegal to retro fit explosives to a car, so i suspect there are no bx's with airbags at all (or at least i would hope there isnt')

Yes Stuart we do drive on the correct side of the road over here unlike the Yanks and the rest of those Europeans.

Vanny, when you say retro fit you mean install one as an aftermarket product? Theres a few places over here specialising in replacement airbags.

they are discussing the fitment of after market GAS BAG SUSPENSION! Read it!

The NZ and AUS rules and regs follow very similar rules to that of the EU (and general EEVC recomendations) and i can pretty much guarantee you fitting aftermarket explosives will be illegal!

This isn't from speculation, but from the summary of six months research into the subject! Oh and if you'd like to know more about the very serious dangers of air bags, i can point you in the right direction. Personally, i DONT want a car with airbags.

I didnt read it so there

As for the dangers of airbags well that I do know being a Volunteer Fire Fighter and having to cut people out of there cars. We see a modern car the risk of one of those unexploded things going off is very real. Once heard of a Firefighter tending a person in the car when the passenger airbag went off and propelled him about 3 metres out the back, not sure before of after they cut the roof off.

And next week we will be cutting up a BX

Forgive my total ignorance on this subject but just what are these airbags referred to in the link all about?

Show cars are mentioned so is it some means to make the car rise and fall on the suspension or something? Sounds a bit Chavvy to me.

If they want that then the answer is simple - get a Hydro Citroen
