Dipsticks

Post by kiwi »

Just one of those strange ones that come up but is there any differance in the Length of BX dipsticks?
Read somewhere there is but had a look at the 16 and the 19s dipstick and no differance in marking or length the 19 also has Air Con fitted where the 16 did not.
Basically would a 16 replace 19GTI dip?

You've really answered your own question there, haven't you?

To paraphrase: If the stick fits - wear it!

New ones can be bought from GSF for £4 each.

Dunno how you figured that one? Reason I asked is because I was asked and we are of a differing opinion. Given the importance of knowing how much oil you have in an engine seems prudent to ask such and obvious question.

Thanks for the sarcasm.

The person I am asking on behalf of recently got a replacement dipstick and it was the wrong size, since I have not seen either that Dipstick or the 19GTI engine it is going into I asked this question because he believes they are differant and also plausable the 16RS I have has the wrong dipstick or worse I have in the 19TZS.

All I am asking is are the BX dipsticks Universal.

As far as i'm aware they are the same, can't vouch if mk1's are the same as mk2's. I've only ever seen listings for 1 type. All 3 of mine are the same, & ive got a Gti, n/a diesel & a turbo, all mk2's....

Thank you Mulley for that reply.

way2go, just because GSF have listed one I was/am sceptical on that simply because you also find Airbags listed for BXs from Online sources. The guy who asked had got a replacement dipstick for his BX and it was the wrong size probably a result of incorrect part number and cross referancing with a Pug or some other citroen.

Since the BX forum is populated by BX fans I was more looking at the experianced multiple BX driver/owner for a reply.

You can always check the calibration of the dipstick by adding the correct quantity of oil when changing it and then seeing what it reads on the stick (after allowing for the new filter and filling it by running the engine)
