Citroen ZX / BX remote central locking plip mod....

Post by Kevin B »

Just wondering if it is possible to fit a ZX remote central locking plip / reciever matched combination into a BX.

I am considering this approach for the following reasons:

1, Original Bx plip / recievers are now rarer than hens teeth.

1a, Finding a working one is even more difficult.

2, I understand the ZX item has a greater range.

3, Minimal wiring modifications appear to be needed to change to the ZX central locking reciever.

Any comments on the feasibility of this would be appreciated.

I dont see why not as someone once adapted an RF transmitter and reciever kit bought from Maplin to do the job (posts were all on the old Andyspares forum). If your competant with electronics then its more than possible.

replacement plips are available from citroen just take the code no. off the reciever to your nearest dealer and they order from france .iwas told it could be up to a month... 3 days later it was here! i forget the price but it was not silly and it was a more modern plip as well.

In short. Yes.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

The rf route is the best one. I have two chips and fobs in use on my BXs. They work from 30 metres away and are much more convenient and cool than the standard central locking remotes.

You need a bit of electronics knowledge though and to be able to solder onto a pcb.
The Joy of BX with just one Citroën BX to my name now. Will I sing Bye Bye to my GTI or will it be Till death us do part.

I fitted a maplin alarm to my Bx, and connected it to the central locking so it is all controlled with one RF keyfob.

range is easily 30 meters, and gives an immobiliser feature too.

It might be clever now, but it won't be in the morning!
