another of my famous questions steering column casing screw

Post by charlotte001 »

what style of screw holds the plastic around the steering column on my bx 19TZS auto? I need to remove it to fit hand controls. Today I tried a selection of screw drivers with no luck

they are called torx bits similar to allen keys but more of a star shape .
buy a decent set as the cheapies just round off and the air often ends up blue!

I've used a number of cheap torx bits on Citroen trim and never had any rounding problems - I accept that if I used them in tight bolts into steel then things might be a bit different.

The problem with the trim under the steering column is finding the screw head - and sometimes the screws are missing - so you wonder why you can't get the thing to undo! A small mirror and a torch can be very handy!

There are 2 posidrive 2 (X type) screws on the panel immediately behind the steering wheel - they must be removed before the bottom column cover can be removed. (I did the job yesterday)

Yes I found the two behind the steering wheel so now it's a simple job of undoing everything.
