Rev Counter

Post by Matt H »

Hi all,

Does anybody know what would be involved in fitting a set of clocks from a BX GTi or 16v to my BX 14...

I really just want to fit a rev counter, but oil and water temperature gauges would be nice.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards,
Matt

This link explains the fitting of the oil/water gauges:

(bottom of the page)

A rev counter shouldn't be too difficult, just find out which is the trigger wire to the rev counter and splice that into the trigger wire to the coil.

Alternatively an aftermarket universal rev counter would be less work, but wouldn't look as neat.

Thanks a lot... This will definitely help.

I was thinking about a set like this from a 205/309 GTi:

That should be simpler then, as you won't need to dismantle the clocks. You will need the senders as well (obviously!) for the gauges to work, but there are plenty of 205 breakers and specialists out there.

If you need a sump pan with a blanked off hole for the oil temperature sender, then I have one knocking about, but you may be able to get one complete with sender for next to nothing. Best of luck!
