Saw some cheapish oil at Lidl today which claims to be suitable for diesel and petrol engines :? . It had an IPA code on it but like Mulley I have no point of reference ... Doh

Or go the whole hog and get the ballsy 6.8ABV, 10 of them bad mothers and you'll not care what oil your car has in it!
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

6.8, i like treacle :D I've got my certificate for having drunk a pint of Roger & Out (possibly still the worlds strongest beer?) they would only serve a 1/3rd of a pint at a time, so had to go to the bar 3 times...

Followed that up with a pint called 1066 which is 6.6%, it tasted like water  I then stood up & felt slightly light headed  , not bad for only having drunk 2 pints....

1066 is not bad for a beer - some ciders seem to be about 7% or more - much stronger and coins would float!

To return to oil - why not ask what everyone was using when their engine siezed? - In fact I think you will not find any reference on the whole of the site - so these engines wouldn't seem to suffer from lubrication problems - so any oil with the appropriate spec will do an adequate job.

My own BX TD has now covered 207,000 miles (only 18,000 miles to the moon!) and uses a minimal quantity of oil - and the same or less than it did at 1653,000 when I acquired it. Its generally been run on Morris oil, and is now on Total (or did I put that in the ZX?). I tried semi-synthetic but it seemed noiser so I went back to the real thing at the next change.

I can't say that Morris is better or worse than the others as I haven't made a comparison or even run the car far enough to see if its any good.

When my 1946 Austin 8 was burning a gallon every 100 miles or so I used to choose cheap oil by its smell when burnt.
