Cleaning products - interior plastics

Post by stuart_hedges »

A non-BX question but I hope someone can advise...

My Aunt bought a new-shape second-hand Micra in September. Apparently marks have started to appear on the dash, which is rather plasticky on those.

She's taking it back to the dealer at the weekend, as she wonders if some unsuitable product was used on the dash for its pre-sale valet.

Anyone know anything?

Could be anything -

Spillage of interior windows cleaning often completely degreases fat plasticy surfaces in splashes and stripes from the running fluid.
The plastic surfaces are most often treated with some kind of vax to give it a shiny and fatty look. This also makes the colour appear nicely.

It is hard work to make the showroom shine appear nicely again, let the garage or dealer do it on the warranty.
