Old girl broke today

Post by millbanksunclub »

You just cant get stuff to last the old girl has only done 208,000 miles and today she broke :(
On my way to work the was a bang from the front wheel arch only a stone i thought but then the stop light came on just as i was on the level crossing PANIC! so i did what it said and on putting my foot on the brake to stop she pulled to the left felt like a flat tyre, got out had a look in the rain no flat no green stuff drove on to work only 3 more miles down the lanes took it slow brakes felt odd but did stop light still on with the brake pad light too.
Parked at work had a look again would not go up to full height but was just high enough to see a broken leg pipe dam and blast i said
Spent the day driving round in a bone shaking mitsibusi pinin thing poxy motor only just better than walking. Phoned the recovery guys at 4.20pm they got to me at 4.50 loaded and we are off to the master repair shop at bexhill the driver asked will they still be there yes i said Craig never goes home b4 6pm we pulled up outside his place at 6.05pm the driver got on with taking the old girl off the truck and i went to see Craig he was working on a xzantia hello Graham he says must be bad news you not hear for coffee and a chat at this time yes its bad news i said and told him what had happened back her in mate i can do it now, what a man. I thank the recovery guy and drive it on to the ramp 15 mins all done and parked on the road outside. The bill for this a leg pipe 2 cans of lhm one in and a spare all after hours £25 yes I did give him a tip .

Nice to know you have such a dedicated indie. I am now getting into a predicament here where there are two indies within 5 miles of me. The one is a total rip off merchant who does iffy work and wants to empty your bank account. The other who used to be my regular has now gone all soft and only wants to work on C1, C2, C4, Saxo, Picasso stuff. Mention hydraulics and you get the sharp intake of breath treatment. I find it so bloody annoying and frustrating. Whereas I used to do all my own repairs, I'm sixty next year and I don't bend so easily now as I used to. Go to a "normal" garage and you know there is a good chance they will kill themselves under the suspension. So at the moment I am on the lookout for yet another indie! One who doesn't mind lhm in his hair! :?

There is/was a section and countrywide list to recommend a good specialist workshop on the BXClub Website. Maybe a little out of date now but a good starting reference for finding somewhere to 'get that job done'. :wink: :D

edit: Just checked - here you go;

Well I took The Bx in for new drive shaft gaiters today. Mr Grump never even acknowledged me or looked in my direction but he was all over an old fellow who was picking a Picasso up. One of his mechanics dealt with me, I wasn't in there 5 minutes.

I find it very sad, how you can call yourself a Citroen specialist and not want to work on Citroens is beyond me. I just cannot see myself going back there. He's treating me like I have the plague just because I own two "real" Citroens. I see there's a place in south Birmingham. I remember someone saying a while back that they do a good job but at a price. Let's face it we all want value for money.
