Well, thanks reminding me ...
Of course the car should be jacked, jackass.

Who are you calling jackass?

Reflect on your own advised procedure!

Much easier to work on the accumulator sphere with a raised car
You need to consider newcomers to Citroen DIY.

If you're too arrogant to admit and correct the errors in your advice on such a dangerous matter then people will need to beware your advice!

If you mean flippant, then yes :D

Dont forget that sometimes when people are giving advice, it can sound a bit harsh or like a telling off, i can assure you that its not, some members are just a bit more direct with their typing. So dont worry about it.

The longer you're on here, the more you'll learn & also which members are the real technical tour de forces, & their advice you can trust & rely on as well :D
This is very true indeed, and having re-read what I wrote it has rather the wrong emphasis. All I meant to say was that it is indeed essential to do what was said. (and the explanation for why has now been given....)

As a moderator of this site, that is entirely the wrong attitude.

You know the car needs to be jacked up, and so do I, but do you know for sure that the person you are giving advice to knows that too? Somehow I doubt it.

Anders,

You have given many people (including myself) lots of good advice over the years.

Sometimes when one responds in a language which is not ones first, regardless of fluency, what is intended as a joke or a pun may not come across. As far as I can see Way2go made a useful and important point, and your 'jackass' remark, whereas perhaps intended as a joke, came across as both an insult and sour grapes at having missed out what was an important peace of safety advice.

Further, I have not observed any example of anyone putting you down or otherwise, so am rather at a loss as to this 'gang' you speak of.

My 2p.

Erm, how many times have i said that humour unfortunately doesnt seem to work that well in type!!! This is a classic example, however, hopefully this is now cleared up.

David, i wasnt actually singling (is that an actual word?) you out, it was just the apologetic response that poor old Nige said, so was just wanting to explain that point. I'm sure everyone can agree that on occassion, whilst explaining something, it can unfortunately have 2 quite different meanings, one for the typist & one for the reader.

So i'm not disagreeing or arguing with anyone about this, just trying to elaborate on the problems of forum chat. Its good to type

Anyway, Nige, it would appear to have been quite a useful post as some good advice on a proceedure has been learnt by club members.

Keep us posted on how you get on with things. If you have any probs/queries, just post them up, you should get plenty of good advice/help.

Hhmm, if you were making a joke then using an emoticon to emphasise the point may have been the order of the day, such as:

Of course use jacks and stands jackass

Which reads as a joke.

Since you said it twice without any joke related emphasis this is poor show.
You've been on enough fori for long enough to know what happens when people read things the wrong way, this is why there are emoticons.

As for hanging on your neck, whats life without a bit of jostle?
