I agree with ken something during the rebuild must have moved or gone wrong as ken stated everything goes through the pinion valve when mine failed i lost all asistance on the right but was fine on the left turn if you take the ram off and then turn the steering from lock to lock this will tell you if the rack is free and ok I suspect that you will find the rack is fine as there isnt much in them to go wrong anyway.

Your assistant wasnt the same mate who "helped" you time up your motor last year was it? if it was, chain him to a stool and make him wear boxing gloves next time he "helps" :D
