front caliper / handbrake problem

Post by nige! »

Pulling the handbrake on, the cable and caliper lever are fine, its just not pushing the piston out to make a handbrake.. does this sound repairable or am I on the lookout for a new caliper

thanks
all i want for christmas is a dukla prague away kit

You need to pull the rubber boot back and make sure the intermediate lever (between the outer lever and the link to the automatic adjuster) is still in place. I suspect it may not be.

You'll need a diagram of the caliper to re-assemble it, as it's a bit of an involved job. I'd say you might be best getting a good s/h one to swap over, and then dismantle your "spare" one to see what was going on.
