SOLD - (via forum, Thanks) Slightly modified BX 16v for sale

Post by Gren » Wed Nov 25, 2015 10:57 pm

Modified BX 16v for sale. J Reg 1991. White.
Externally only custom wheels stand out as different and even these are painted gun metal grey with diamond cut rims to be as close to the originals as I could get.
Under the bonnet is a strong standard engine with circa 100,000miles. Well maintained. Excellent oil pressure. Lightened flywheel. Upgraded clutch. Limited slip diff.
Xantia big brakes fitted under custom compomotive wheels. 16x8 fronts with 215/40/16 tyres and 16x7 rears with 195/45/16s so handles beautifully and stops on a sixpence. ABS maintained and working.
Custom stainless exhaust. Louder than the original but easily under 98db for track days.
The bad news is the body and interior are very tired. No current MOT or tax. However runs and can be driven locally on private ground so you can understand exactly what you're getting.
All this for £300. No offers. Engines alone go for more on eBay and you can't listen to them running!
Currently resides near Fareham, between Portsmouth and Southampton.
Will add some pics when I can get my laptop to play nicely.

I know this car, I've seen it at Goodwood. Shame it's ended up tired, it looked quite tidy when I saw it hammering a Boxster on the main straight. Got a vid somewhere!

Very cheap for £300, that. I think Andy Adams might be looking for a valver, I'll let him know.

Somebody was talking about fitting 16v running gear to an estate.... So if this needs a reshell, it could be an option.

It doesn't need a new shell, just localised work. Similarly odds and ends in the interior like the front windows disappearing into the doors if you press to go down. Fine if you leave them up! All solvable but needs time I no longer have. Needs someone to resurrect rather than break really. Lot of car for the money.
Took some fresh pics and will upload when I work out how. IT skills a bit poor.

Someone get it bought, if i had room i'd take it on, but i've already got a valver. TBH, i never quite understood what the fuss was about this particular model, now that i've got one, i can confirm its one of the most fun to drive cars i've ever owned. Yes there are faster cars on the road, but mine just makes me smile, its noisy, uncouth but utterly addictive. You owe it to yourself to get one, or at the very least to have owned one before passing it onto another owner.

Good news on the quick sale, hopefully its going to a good home and not being torn apart for bits.

Hopefully we have got to the point now where they are worth saving... I know my one will be back on the road in around 6 months (hopefully less) after its been off it for 14 years.

Always slightly concerning when the car is sold, but no word from buyer - if it was a BXer they'd be shouting about it in glee. I'd be amazed if it sold that quickly, and it wasn't as a 205 engine donor.

Here's hoping I'm amazed

Saw this just now, it's half a mile from my workshop! Unless someone very local has bought it, it's still not been collected then?

Just arranging going to look at it with gren, be good if you can pop along as well to have a look. I'll put it back on the road and not break it up.

Why shouldn't he?

He's got it back on the road and presumably invested plenty of time doing that.

At £2,000 it won't be getting broken up.

If you'd wanted it at £300 you shoulda got in there first 8)
