Scrapped. The alternative was to send it Classic banger racing to further upset the Establishment ("And don't think I wouldn't because you're not dealing with a rational man!")*. There are a lot of old cars out there and the CX isn't one of the best of them.
I did 8,000 miles in six months in the full realisation that it may be a disposable car for 7p a mile depreciation. More than it had done in the previous five years, including a wonderful 1900 mile odyssey during a week just driving it in Europe during a snowy February. I've had my money's worth. The MOT's up on friday, It was fun while it lasted.
Had the Establishment been a little more friendly, I might have offered parts but as it is, it goes to the crusher.

Tom... Please don't scrap it, that would be a great shame. I'll gladly come and take it away, either to use as a CX, or if the car is that bad, I'd dearly like the TD engine for my Citroen C25 van (it uses the atmo D engine and would benefit from more horses).
either way, please don't let it get squashed!
