BX 19 TXD For Sale. Tax & Test

Post by Hurricane »

Hi, spotted this one for sale on Saturday. Heading up Garstang Road north of Preston and passing a car dealers just noticed out of the corner of my eye a Red BX, so went to take a look.

Had a word with the Garage owner, it came in as a part exchange on Friday I think. The Garage owner doesn't really see the appeal of BX's and to be fair it's just an old car to him.

It's a Red 19 TXD, reg K125 UBV, I saw 113,000 miles on the clock. It's Taxed untill 31st October 2009 and MOT'd till April. Cambelt was recently replaced and it's got 4 new tyres.

We were in a rush so could only have a brief look at it and take some pictures, didn't look inside but I think it had Red & Black seats/interior, also the rear spoiler looks like it's been detached although overall the car did looks smart, eye catching enough to make me notice it from the main road anyway!

He said he wants £300. It is mucky and needs a good wash but seems a nice car and I would love to see it go to a good home, it reminds me a lot of our old 16 RS and I love Red ones.

I must stress though that there is a Citroen/Peugeot breakers up the road in Garstang and you never know what may happen if it's spotted!! :-#

I am just the messenger, the above is all I know and have posted with permision from the garage owner, if you would like to know more please give the garage a ring, I think this is the website...

http://www.usedcarsales.me.uk/

Located 5 minutes away from Junction 32 of the M6 on the main Preston to Lancaster A6 Garstang Road.

Thanks. :D

Bugger. If this had come up a couple of weeks ago it would have been ideal for me...

That's an absolute bargain for someone (There's over £123 worth of road tax left on it) which effectively make that a £177 car !
If someone off the Forum buys it, I have spare boot/hatchback spoiler (Babywalker) which will fit those existing holes as clearly shown,
but will need painting .
I've got two in white (Ones provisionally reserved) PM me if you need one.
Thanks.

I'd be very surprised if the car dealer said £300 including the tax, normally its without, so perhaps not quite the bargain. Still, it does look decent so would be a good buy if its solid....

The new DVLA rules on car tax refunds state that only the actual registered keeper can get the refund and the dealer doesn't usually change the ownership on to the new type of logbook and apparently when this change took place in January 2009 the car dealers weren't too happy about this change as is was 'A nice little earner ' for them :!:
I sure Roverman (Tim) can shead some more light on this subject being a Salesman for a main-dealer :?:

He said to us ''I don't see the appeal of them mate, I just want shut of it''. £300 he said, so I would imagine as it is, drive it away with Tax. To be fair the garage was full of newer more expensive cars so I can see why he wants shut.

Best to ring up and double check but I'm sure the Tax would be included.

It's definitely not Marty's old one, I remember seeing a picture of his car on another site and had to double check but they are different reg.

This is Marty's...

I did though untill I saw this one for sale close up think it was our old one!

Just had a call from the garage. Year's MOT on it now, and you can put it up on a ramp if you want to. You probably will as the price when I checked was £800 though quickly falling to 'open to offers' and 'what do you think it's worth?'

Hurricane I see  what you mean :!:

After all in your first posting you stated:-

"Hi, spotted this one for sale on Saturday. Heading up Garstang Road north of Preston and passing a car dealers just noticed out of the corner of my eye a Red BX, so went to take a look."

That last photo shot is hardly 'out of the corner of your eye' :!:

Different phone calls. First, there was no objection to the mention of £300, then when the second guy phoned back and I asked him, he did actually say £800, but was extremely quick to reduce it. I think the main thing now is to expect to argue for a big reduction from £800. I mentioned even the top of the range TZD on Ebay didn't get that much. They do seem to have some confidence in this car though, and I'm not surprised the price has gone up, but not necessarily by that much. Actually he isn't expecting any more interest from me as I was only interested in a turbo.

Ah right, so it is local, thanks for that! :D

Also I feel I must apologize for this £800 thing, a mistake appears to have been made as we were told £300 and was it ok to put it on here, he said yes.

I thought that this might have been a "local" Lancashire car for most of its life, seeing as it's a "BV" registration (BV and CB were both originally Blackburn registrations!)
If I was looking for a decent diesel BX, this is one that I would be seriously considering, but £800 is way too much. I reckon if you waved £400-450 in pound notes in his face he would hand over the keys, although he will probably try negotiating extra for all that Tax!

Dave
