Black G Reg BX for sale

Post by Paul Jones »

Hi Guys.

I hope you can help

I have a G reg Black 1.9 Petrol Automatic BX which I have to sell due to spending too much time overseas. I really want it to go to a good home as it has done me great service.

No tax or Mot. Everything is generally sound but it needs someone to give it a bit of TLC to restore it. For an BX lover this should be no prob.

Anyway not sure how to add photos here but I have some good shots of the car which I can email and I am willing to answer any questions.

Car is in High Wycombe

Thank you for your help

Paul

Smart looking car. Assume it will have the usual issues and it does seem to be riding a bit high on the rear, but all in all worth considering (so long as economy isn't too important to you). The 19TZS auto I had for a while was one of the nicest riding ones I'd ever had. And it had some poke too.

Hi Philip Chidlow

Don't know of any usual issues. Was maintained by a Citroen dealer all it's life. Suspension has been serviced regularly. What things should I be looking for?

Hi there, well as members on here have often pointed out, there's no such thing as a rust-free BX.

So a check of the usual areas of concern: Inner front wings, around the screen, sills - check for damage too around jacking points, where the sills meet the rear arches, front door hinge panels (often repaired), base of the 'B' pillar, inner rear arches (difficult to check - but how's the area around the filler?), boot floor rear - especially above the rear exhaust hanger plus the hanger area itself.

There will be corrosion in other areas but the above are the principle areas to start.

The rear arm bearings might be showing wear (lean in of rear wheels) although from the pics they look OK.

And the usual service items... exhaust, cam belt etc.

Does it drop oil or LHM? Any obvious issues with noisy wheel bearings or rattly drop-links... anything that wil help a potential purchaser decide to take it on or not?

But on the whole it looks OK. Best of luck with the sale.

Finally - any ideas on price? Bearing in mind tax/ticket situation and the fact it's a petrol auto (but it is black  :D )...

Black does suit the BX and don't seem to see many in that colour. An indication of likely MOT failures would help as well as detailed description of the 'usual suspect' areas.

Nothing a bit of elbow grease wouldn't put right, and a rare colour/trim combo.

I'll take some photos of the "usual suspect areas" and put them up tomorrow.

No MOT failure just I have not MOTed it due to being away.

Anyone interested please come and have a look. Open to sensible offers.

Thanks Mike.

Yes it used to be outside the RGS.

You are more than welcome to come over and have a good look at the BX. If you pop over then I am sure that I can supply a cup of tea and a piece of cake.
