Someone's almost certainly said it before in this thread, but the ORGA number, visible on the inner nearside A-pillar a few inches under the door stay with the nearside front door open, will show when the car was manufactured. Link here to get from number to date:

Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.
Thank you, I was worried I might not be able to afford it by the time I go to view ...takehurst wrote:since Tourist has been told what my father would like for the car, if he wants it, that's what he'll get it for, even if others think it may be worth more than that.
Way2go, when I said the car looked "thrown together" I just meant that it seems to have a mis-match of parts, although looking at that picture Ken put up it seems this isn't the only TZD with chrome rubbing strips ... and you're right it doesn't matter, it took me a while to even notice.

might have been cleaned too thoroughly down there in its life.. would that gradually wear away at the black paint? thats my theory for where mine has that round the door frames..

Went to look at this car today as James was having a problem getting
there.I dont want to tempt fate.....but what a fabulous bargain it is.
I would have gladly given the chap double. And what a change to meet
such decent people. He gave me a complete rundown of all the so called
faults.....faults!! It was just normal wear and tear! He even had the
original newspaper ad. The garage had 2 so they bought them both! That
means there must be another N reg.TZD about somewhere. Complete
service history as well.
I"ll let James enthuse about the rest after this brief heads-up.I do hope
he"s happy with it when he gets it.If not he can sell it to me...my son
was drooling.
Richard.

I've bought several BXs without having been able to drive it. After all it's not practical to travel 210 miles to test a car that costs a few hundred quid. I was lucky in every instance - my silver GTi auto, 'ELF' the black GTi auto, my chipped GTi, the white GTi 'FLO', my white Ph. 1 GTi 16v and my current GTi auto: All bought without a test drive. All fine cars.
Smug? No. Just, as I say, lucky. It's the way I've done it. But not the way I'd necessarily recommend someone else more sensible might

Are you saying that the other one they bought they still have ? Or sold it on along time ago ?rhv100 wrote: He even had the original newspaper ad. The garage had 2 so they bought them both! That means there must be another N reg.TZD about somewhere. Complete service history as well.
Also from you info or newspaper ad. was it another TZD in White ?
If so, it could be one of these as it states 1769cc which is correct for a TZD oil burner.

The above info shows that all of the 'Vehicle Status as Unlicensed' and therfore maybe garaged somewhere/standing on a drive (All waiting to pick up a fine from the DVLA ) or even may have met there maker
Other Citroen Car registrations closely/adjacent to N89 GJO which show up as oil burners were N82,N83,N85,N93,N94,N95 and N97 but were all 1905cc !
Does anyone know if a car is scrapped, does the DVLA take the viewing information ( i.e as above) off the data-base or does it state 'Scrapped' ?
As I've checked one on my vehicles which is on sorn and it comes up with 'Vehicle Status SORN Not Due' I have not scrapped a car rencently which I can remember the reg. number to do check/test on !
Thanks.
James just spotted your posting before posting the above !
If you see this before going up for your car ask (Takehurst or his father the seller) if they still have the other TZD and is it for sale ?Tourist wrote:As Richard said I couldn't get there so he had a look for me, no money has changed hands yet. I'm going to see it today for myself, it's likely I'll be bringing it back with me.jonathan_dyane wrote:Surely you drove it?!
If its been sold on ask them what the registration was so if it does ever come up for sale there will some traceability of how they started out life from the showrooms together !
All the Best and don't forget to report back later (which I'm sure you will) .
