What would you do if the new owner told you not to tell, at least until he got it home? Would you tell everyone anyway? I only wanted - as I said earlier - to reassure members that it was staying within our band and so that those (like myself it has to be said) who contemplated buying it to save it didn't waste time or get their hopes up.

OK, so you reassured members . My post was directed at someone else additionally proclaiming "I know something that you don't"!
It's not a big deal but it does smack of childish behaviour amongst those who are privately informed.

What's childish about it? I'm sure when the new owner wants us to know he'll make a post 8) In the meantime, as you say it's no big deal. Why don't we start a sweepstake/poll? (Tim - and I excluded of course!)

The main thing is that this rare car has now been saved!

If the new owner has asked to be kept anonymous for the time being, that is his prerogative, and should be respected, as Phil and Tim are doing!

W2G....don't get childish or jealous, just because you don't happen to be currently "in the know".
If it was YOU who had met the new owner, I'm pretty sure you would also have made a post to the effect that you could now confirm Phil's post, that the car is saved! That is what Tim did......nothing of the "I know something you don't know" idea that you have assumed!

I had a certain amount of interest in this myself, having viewed the car (with Tim), and attempted to persuade "her indoors" to let me take it on.
I am most definitely NOT pushing to discover the new owner's identity! All will be revealed when the new owner is good and ready.

It is enough to know that a rare BX GT is in safe hands! :D

Well, whoever has it now - I hope they can get it on the road and we might get to see it at a rally?

Why would it matter if the new owner was 'revealed' then if they don't use this forum anyhow?
