TZD 1.7 Diesel Turbo - For Sale

Post by fergie »

L-reg, Venetian Red, Electric Sun-roof, Sony CD/Radio

177k miles, taxed to 31 Aug 09, MOT to 05 Aug 09

I've had this car, my second BX, since 1995; before that I had a white F-reg diesel turbo for 4 years. Now a "family member's offer I can't refuse" means it must go.

It's 16 years old, so it's as you'd expect e.g. some things n/w such as rev-counter and heater-blower but I think it still looks good (see pics) and I enjoy driving it. Maybe someone would offer me a few hundred for it?

You'll definitely need a new MOT at least to realise the best price in my opinion, however good the car may be.
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

But the lean is there. :(

Probably would need to budget £600 plus to get the car sorted. Which makes it a fifty-pounder IMHO. Sorry - :(

From the owner/seller - "There is no wheel lean"

Post by fergie »

I would not wish talk of wheel lean to influence possible interest in my car. I thank Roverman for his comment that "it's just the picture", which is true. The car was parked across a steep slope when the pic was taken - obviously my mistake; but almost everywhere in South Devon is on a steep slope! So, for the record, I confirm there is no wheel lean.

Fair enough, perhaps you could add a mention it in the message where you introduced yourself on this forum before you posted an advert?

In that case £200 is a very fair price, anyone?

I'm a little puzzled, Tim - you're the first person in the thread to mention £200.

A "couple of hundred" is always £200 to me (unless I'm in Wales), whereas a "few hundred" is something different - hence my original comment. Does "a few" mean two in the trade? Possibly when buying-in, but not, I'd think, when selling.

Anyway, as ever, I'd advise anyone buying a BX to see it first and talk to the owner, so I'll no clutter the thread up any further.

Sorry David, too many years of being in the trade, a few hundred in our language is normally considered as two. As you say worth viewing for sure and looking at BUT if all checks out then not bad value if it is that kind of money.

What a load of codswallop. The only language in which a few means two is those of spivs (when buying) and dishonest types.

Few is £200? What you been sniffing now Tim?

Several could be argued, although I'd always guessed that was more like £300.

Either £500 would be a fair price with a fresh MOT, provided that wheel ain't leaning! Hard to really tell from that angle though, I'm sure the seller could provide a pic of the car side-on for any potential owners? Otherwise not too bad from here. No valver though >>^

Jonathan, I am neither dishonest nor speak codswallop and take exception to your comments.
