For Sale: Citroen BX 19RD

Post by roody262 »

We’ve had this car for the last 2 years. In that time it’s had a new clutch, new water pump, all spheres have been replaced, new tyres have been fitted. Also very recently (in the last 2 months) had a new exhaust system fitted, 4 new glowplugs, new air and oil filters and oil has been changed.

The car has been used as a general run around and also an economical vehicle for travelling to and from devon. The car has been well looked after showing only the expected signs of wear from a car of its age. There are a few small scratches and dents on the bodywork and the interior is in fair condition with a small tear in the drivers seat. The car has only done 11700 miles, which is nothing on what this engine is capable of. Has a tow bar fitted.

You can find pictures of the car here ? http://www.flickr.com/photos/roody262/s ... 666142979/

I am looking for around £475 but this is negotiable. The car will also be going onto ebay, depending of the amount of interest from people due to this advert.[/url]

Looks a very good example. A workhorse maybe but better than average. Price pitched about right IMHO.

Thank you.Forgot to add, Ther car is MOT'd untill Jan 2010 next year. Also there is a typo in the advert, the car has done 117000 miles not 11700 miles.

All being well I should have this car on Sunday.

To think I nearly bought an XM this afternoon - and a petrol one at that.

Cheers

I looked at a really good petrol XM but expected it to have a CX like ride - the 1st one i drove. I just kept thinking... I'm actually really happy with my BX.. into the floaty ride thiang.

Even the very best XM will never have the ride comfort of a CX. The McPherson struts on the XM make that guarantee.

That said, the Hydractive on an XM will mean it can out-handle a CX...

i know the BX has struts also, but with normal not Gti/TZD spec spheres on mine its lovely and floaty and i love the way you can hurl it round corners and really feel when its on the edge of breaking away, but yes, not as fast round corners.. just more fun!

So its either a GS/GSA/CX or DS for me i think or with a BX a cheaper close second!

No Max, trust me an Xm will never ride like a Cx. Mine road more like a Ford Escort until I put many many hours into sorting the suspension. Even then driving over potholed roads scared the hell out of me.

I think the XM is a beautiful car - but during one of my deeper searches I came across an Australian site discussing the tendency for the front suspension strut to 'pop' its mounting - with quite horrible results. Sorry I can't find the link now!

This probably has a lot to do with the roads in Australia, I'm guessing.

Not really. Xantiae do this too, it's caused by corrosion of the strut-top mounting. When XM's were (relatively) plentiful, there were a good number of them scrapped when the top strut mountings let go. The strut top is fairly expensive, and of course you're in need of a bonnet too.

I didn't know about the Xantia...

The damage on the photos I saw showed the front door pillar/frame around the windscreen to be bent and twisted, as well as the bonnet!

Not something I'd like to experience at any kind of speed.

This bx is proudly sitting outside my house now! The dogs like it and I like it.
