Free 16 low miles etc.

Post by Philip Chidlow »

From the CCC BX forum:

(I'm sure it doesn't matter that I'm doing a straight copy and paste!)

Judge for yourselves: It's FREE.

I've taken a call from a lady with a BX in need of a good home (the BX not the lady). It's a 1988 16 TRS with 45,000 miles. Silver. Good condition. MOT to this weekend. Tax to end of this month. One family from when dad bought it new. I explained what 'free' means.

Please contact Mrs Page directly..

01189 813946

She'll keep the car until the end of the month then...

Cheers

Nice old car, few bits and bobs to do but low miles and drives a treat asides having front spheres made from concrete, wil get her Moted and serviced ready for her new owner to pick her up when he returns from the BXagon!

Calm down, was said in jest hence the smiley so unless you have something to hide there's no need to jump in.

Can't be many petrol ones left now I'd have thought?

So that's a single owner car?! Or at least a single family car. It's great some of these are creeping out the woodwork now, especially if they can be preserved or prevented from scrap.

It reminds me of my Granddad's Triumph 2000. If you wind back 20yrs most wouldn't of thought of a BX as a classic, but with examples like this, who's to argue.

I wonder if the latest re-incarnation of the Ford Mondeo will be a classic? On that note, one of the dads from school is driving an Escort Cabriolet, purple in colour and excellent condition. Not a classic yet...it's in that grey area between being almost quite cool yet simultaneously looking very outdated!

One family owner yes, the original owner bought the car new in 1988 and sadly passed away in 1996, his two daughters have both owned it since then but shes now is surplus to requirements as they have a newish Range Rover and Volvo V70. When I picked it up yesterday it had done 3 miles since its MOT last year!

The local garage said it wasnt worth having it MOTed again and advised just to scrap it even though asides the shagged front spheres there appears to be nothing wrong with the old girl which Mrs Page didnt want to happen for sentimental reasons. She drove fautlessly the 120 miles home using just over 1/4 a tank at a steady 60-65. I wish my 16 was as frugal!

Only the Mk1 Mundano could potentially be considered as a future classic.
The Mk2 is a hateful, horrible car and the Mk3s seem pretty wank too.

Funny how some cars seem to come out of the woodwork from time to time as genuine low mileage one owner jobbies, usually smaller cars owned by old ladies though medium sized cars such as the BX do from time to time as well.

Ah yes, one lady owner, only 30k miles, 700 clutches....
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
