Grey Door Pockets

The ones in my TZi are very discoloured so after a set of four if anyone has them, must be grey and in good nick.

Can't you just wet clean them with a vax? or has the sunlight faded them?

The door pockets are hard plastic Mulley and have faded badly.

Well, I've got one, and I have no hair at all!

As it goes I only use it for working plastic...

Works rather well too.

No idea if it's any good for it's actual intended purpose though.

Ive never owned a hair dryer

Well thats a good point, i dont own a hair dryer either, i tend to use a blow torch for such work, BUT a blow torch will very quickly damage plastic if it gets too hot, a hair dryer gives you a better chance of bringing the colour up without setting the workpiece on fire!

/\ yes, I learnt this the expensive way, happily it was only a Metro, and I didn't own it..

The fire brigade nor my neighbours saw the happy side of this though.

I didn't realize you could restore plastic with a hair dryer. Is it permanent?

Well, it's all relative isn't it?

I've brought back some very pink bits of plastic to a nice hue of red, adn they've lasted over 10 years, albeit with the odd polish and some anti UV wax..

But yes, on the whole, hair dryers, blow torch, black and decker (other brands available) wall paper hot air gun thingy all work well at restoring faded plastics.
Obviousley with flame type heating appliances it's harder not to melt / set alight to the piece though....

Blow torch FTW! Actually, I've only used a blow torch on bumpers and then they were off the car, so prob not the best idea on door pockets unless removed from the door card itself!

yes, there would be a certain irony there!

"I now have lovely grey bins, but the door card caught fire and melted"...

If using a blow torch, keep the heat moving!

Oh yeah, this is the WANTED section, not the technical section, no point in clogging things up making good suggestions on repairs.

I've only got a selectiong of very black pockets.
