Is this a BX gearbox?

don't think so judging the position of the gear selector on the upper side

The numbers he's quoted suggest it's a BH3. As far as I can remember this was fitted to the early 14s (the suitcase engines). It'd probably tell you in the Haynes manual...

Hmmm, well looking at the clutch lever it's either a valver or a TD box if indeed it does belong to a cit. BE3 I'd say! It could be a pug box, although between engine variants I think there are identical

Nah, the suitcase didn't use the BE gearbox, it had the gears in the sump. I think...

Course they did, you're right.

What was I thinking (or drinking?) I must say that it looks very like the gearboxes fitted to the XU engines I've had or worked on, so Bandit is probably right.
