BX19 TRS for free, MOT failure (Oxford)

Post by mnde » Wed Dec 14, 2005 11:25 pm

I thought I'd copy/paste this from the BXcitroen-L yahoogroup as someone might be interested in the car. I don't know how many people here are members of that site!

Vive la BX,

Mark.

That must be some oil leak, crank case oil seal maybe?

No problem Tim, I`ll keep an eye out for one for you anyway. Have you tried what ever Andyspares is now called? You may strike lucky with a `wanted` ad. Also I believe a few members of the BX16V forum have `ordinary` BX`s and someone may have one. Got to be worth a try?

If I do come across one round here Tim I`ll give you a shout. I`m still hoping to find a cheap 1.6 petrol so you never know mate.

BTW, take it your SD1 is the wonderful series one model?

It is indeed Cavmad, is also the VERY rare V8-S Manual, one of only 23 left known survivors! Yes and thats me leaning against it with the rather bright Jacket, the photo was taken at the 100 Years Rover Centenary on July 11th 2004 (my 30th Birthday!) The MAN1412 plate was its original I.O.M registration but now wears a 79 "T" age related plate.

Tim , that`s a truly stunning car mate, you`re a very lucky bloke to own that.
Last of the `proper` Rovers in my opinion and certainly something to be cherished, hope to see it (and you) one day at a car show somewhere.

It is indeed, wasnt as nice as that when I bought it back in 1997. Was looking rather unloved in a "bargain cars section" of a small garage in Loughborough and told me that she wanted to come home with me so thats what happened!

Shes just undergone a complete respray as although tidy the paint was tired, £1500 later she looks very shiny indeed! Just have to finish putting her back together now! But each time I wheel her out of the garage it rains! So back in she goes (doesnt like the rain you see). Nice thing is if i work out how much ive spent on it in 8 years including the cost and what the agreed value is im still about £1000 in credit for once!

That value is £5000! £5000 for a SD1, mad isnt it, but its the rarest of the rare in Sd1 circles!

Well worth it too Tim. Weren`t the P6 Rover (V8) manuals called the 3500S too?
Haven`t seen a Mk1 SD1 in years now, last one was at a classic car show in Manchester a few years ago.

Just realised I`m way off topic now sorry, is anyone going to claim the free BX in Oxford? No use to me due to mileage to collect it.
