You'll need to specify which breed it is, Bosch or Lucas. :?

thanks Ken - having looked at the workshop manual, there aren't any Lucas injection pumps fitted earlier than 1993, and my car is a 1992, so is presumably Bosch or Roto-diesel, for which no dates are given.
(mine certainly seems to have a roto-diesel injection pump)
Under the heading 'injectors' there is just types listed - Roto-diesel and Bosch. (mine certainly seems to have a roto diesel injection pump)
On eBay, the only injector listed for a BX is a Lucas one. would this be compatible with 'roto-diesel'?
if Lucas injection pumps weren't fitted until 1993 there can't be many BXs that use Lucas?

Both were fitted before that date. If you are not sure, it may be best to post a photo.

Can I ask why you need only one? If you are on a tight budget then by all means go for the one. But the likelihood is that if one is knackered, the others wont be far behind. If you are intent on longevity, it could well be worth considering a set of 4.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the injectors apart from the fact that a clumsy garage mechanic managed to break the leak-off nipple off one!. Another injector can't be removed at all because he put 'glue' round it a year ago to cure a leak!
What should the photograph be of? The injection pump or the injector?, because I do have a photo of my engine that shows the Roto-diesel injection pump.
Aren't the injectors going to look fairly similar?

The injectors do look very similar, but a photo of the injection pump would clear up any confusion about what make it is. :)

Add says it's for a Blingy, in which case it would have to be the DW8 engine, so, no, the pressure would be wrong, unless I am wrong, or the ad is wrong.. Either way, can't check the part number til monday...

I think the 1.9 TD Lucas injectors open at different pressures to the 1.7TD but I don't honestly know.

Failing getting hold of a 1.7 injector, you could buy a 1.9 injector and swap the innerds over, or even just the top half with the leak off stubs on it. Assuming that is, that the outers are the same (internally). What I don't officially know is what torque to tighten the two injector halves up to, but, I did all mine to 150 nM (or was it lbft  don't know but I'll check) and they work fine.

I thought I had an old set lying about but I haven't a clue where and they had done nearly 200k and were a tad tired. I'll have a look.............
