The carb part is related to the manual choke operation and prevents flooding. I'd be grateful if anyone could point me in the direction of a parts supplier who might be able to help.
From memory Steve, there's carb reconditioning business advertises in the classic car mags. They're a goldmine - they had bits for the twin SU's on my old Volvo 122s!!!

I've just been digging about a bit and I've found a couple of places which offer Refurb/spares kits, even complete Carbs.

Look on ebay for an alternator, I remember seeing some cheap ones on there before, also try your local motor factors, when I needed one for my SD1 they were miles cheaper than everyone else.
