Lovely TZD Turbo Hatch

Post by Tim Leech »

Ive had an email from a chap in the CCC who is with much reluctance having to part with his cherished 1991 BX TZD turbo after owning it for 18 years, he purched it as an ex demo with approx 4000 miles on the clock when it was less than a year old.

Current mileage is approx 120000 miles and it has been citroen dealer/specialist maintained all its life, the car is located in Enfield, North London and has MOT and TAX and a full history.

It was professionally reprayed not long ago and the condition can only de described as outstanding. sadly due to the gents age and failing health he is selling it to buy a car with a higher driving position and probably an autobox.

I have contact details for the chap so SERIOUS parties please contact me, it must go to a loving home/citroen enthusiast who will care for it as well as he has.

Offers over £800 are invited.

Photos to follow.

Hi Tim I hope you don't mind me adding to this post...

His description:

Purchased with the demo mileage December 1991.
Current mileage: 119,500.
Tax to September 2010.
MOT to October 2010.

There have never been any running problems with this car. For the past 12 years she has been serviced by Martin at Pleiades, and Bill Thomas at Harpenden. Whatever has been deemed appropriate for renewal or replacement has been done on discovery.

The first clutch lasted to about 90,000 miles, and the original exhaust to about the same time.

Recent rust on the boot floor and in the engine compartment has the been removed, and the appropriate welding done.

Both front window runners have been replaced. All tyres (Dunlops I think - Phil) have done no more than 3000 miles, and a new battery went in last autumn. Ignition plugs were replaced for the first time a few months ago.

The car has never been in an accident, but has been professionally re-sprayed. And only an expert could see the joins.

The front upholstery has always been covered, and I regard the interior condition as excellent.

The Rev counter started sticking, or whatever, and I am not the person to remove the fascia and look for the right wire. (This will still need to be looked at but the symptoms, having discussed it with him, point to a poor connection behind the dials)

I have a box of bills that track the car's servicing since I bought it. I'm not a mechanic and I count myself fortunate that two very good people have done whatever was necessary for a very long time: the result is a car that runs well, has no known faults, and will certainly go on for a very long time.

I live in the Enfield area, with easy access to the A1/M25/M11. Anyone is welcome to visit, and drive and examine the car.
All things considered I think £800 is a reasonable price.

No worries Phil, saves me the bother!

As you can see its a great example.

Noticed the original dealer plates, Wood and Krailing is where my dads 87 19RD came from, think they are in Thedon Bois in Kent?

Im in enfield in two weeks so can take a closer look if required.

That is bootiful (as Bernard Matthews used to say). 800 sheets of Bxcellence. Classic old boy's BX - well maintained, low mileage and that paint just shines.

But chaps this is a good example (it would seem) that needs a good home... it'd cost more than a few hundred to get a rotten BX up to standard so why not? It's a big initial spend in BX circles but in the end it's got long tax and ticket... and is the most economical BX with any guts.

IF ONLY my clients had paid me more than 50% of what they owed me !!!
