A unique opportunity - Dr. Alex Moulton's XM is for sale
Dr Moulton is, of course, the inventor of 'Hydrolastic' and 'Hydragas' suspension systems used on BMC/BLMC/Austin/Rover/MG cars for many years. He has owned Citroens since the 1970s and greatly admires them, particularly the GS/A and XM.

If I had the money, I'd buy it because (in no order..)
* a 24v v6 is a great engine, and rare
*mauritius blue with cream hide is a lovely and rare combination
*It belongs to Moulton, and that in itself is cool.
Sadly it's going to be more than I've got, that's for sure. I hope it goes to an enthusiast who will appreciate it.

Yes, by and large. The XM suffered form problems due to poor quality (and badly designed/positioned) earthing blocks and some woefully inadequate wiring quality early on in the Series 1 cars which was largely addressed in the Series 1.5 upgrade. By the time of the Series 2 cars XMs were no more or less reliable than most other cars. Trouble is mud sticks and the model never recovered. To Joe Public they were forever associated with electrical issues.Mike E (uk) wrote:Had they removed all the electrical gremlins by 1998?

Some gold-plated connectors in later cars, unless I'm mistaken...Philip Chidlow wrote:Yes, by and large.
