16 valve poor gear change

Post by Alastair »

Hi..am looking to improve the gearchange on a recently acquired 16 valver...HAve identified loads of play in two parts...a rod which citroen suggest is part number 95495342 and a part which they describe as a control return part number 95569317...however the parts according to them are no longer available!! Any ideas anyone as to where they may be obtained or who may have old stock??

Thanks

Alastair

The gear change always is a long and vague on the BX.

The rods do appear on eBay from time to time.

It might be clever now, but it won't be in the morning!

Might similar parts (requiring some minor modification) still be available for Peugeot vehicles that use the same BE3 gearbox. I know that the peugeot 306 has very similar looking components in this respect, but the rods are a different length.

I seem to remember Luke on the 16v forum used modified 205 GTi linkages to achieve a shorter throw gearchange... it might be worth asking over there.

hi - I had to rebuild the head on my 16v a few years ago and found one of the linkages was flopping about with hardly anything left in the plastic joint... As it was really easy to access with the head off I got one from Bryan Brothers in Bristol - no problem ordering then and I think they had to get it from France too...
