OMP Performance air filter

At a decent price, it'll save on replacing your paper filters every few years, just think of the eco benefits

Do these things actually work better than the paper versions? Is there any noticeable differnce in performance say for a standard non turbo Bx?

Tbh no idea, i've got a k&n, the only reason for buying it was that it could be cleaned & re-used so from an ecological & financial perspective it makes sense. Even if it only gave 1bhp, that's still an improvement over only the 71 that my n/a diesel has anyway

I've a K&N panel int he valver and i had one in the diesel. I cant say i noticed any performance difference, there is slightly more induction roar on the valver, and they do need cleaning every few years. Definitely worth the £10 i paid for mine.

I've just bought one of these, and I'd like to say it gives a massive increase in performance...but I'd be lying! No noticeable difference but at least it won't need replacing (and the car has developed its own self oiling system). The surface area is a lot less than the paper one it replaced, and you can see a few spots of daylight through it. Hmmm, is this normal for an oiled cotton type?

yep! The oil makes it sticky so that it picks up dirt, rather than simply clogging pores, hence the lower surface area, and the need to re oil every now and again (think they recommend 4 years unless you live on a dirt track).

Mat, don't know about the one you've got, the k&n uses a red oil that should be an even darkish colour on both sides & you shouldn't have any light areas & certainly shouldnt be seeing daylight spots, probably best to get a re-charge/cleaning kit anyway & perhaps re-oil it? May be worth e-mailing omp for their advice?
