Mk1 BX?

Post by Timothy Ralph »

Is my BX19RD Estate a Mk1? I have to admit that I don't know but it has a handsome circular clockface on the instrument panel, where later models had a tachometer and the car is without any inessential electronic stuff, which, to my mind, smacks of an early version. It was first registered in 1989.

Let me know if you are interested and I will tell more, in the meantime why not see it on ebay whose auction ends tomorrow evening?
I currently own three BX's, viz. TZD, TXD and 19RD Estate. I have run BX's for ten years, so have accumulated a few spares which might be useful. Before this I ran Rover P6's for sixteen years and collected the remains of half a dozen - do any of youpeople know P6 buffs who need spares?

No Timothy its not sorry, Mk1 ran from 1983-1986 in the UK, the last Mk1s being registered on a D plate. They are VERY rare nowadays as most have rusted away.

Which is such a shame as they were the true BX and to myself, the ultimate BX!

Yes there are loads of series 2 on Leboncoin but only a few series 1.
The 1 ive found is very basic with the skinny wheels and small centre caps.I like the more basic ones they sem more pure.

Ive found 2 cars on Leboncoin that take my fancy.1 is a extremely clean 14RE.Its a 1983 in white and ive been passing emails back and forth with the family who own it and theve sent me loads of pics.It looks lovely. They are asking 600 euros for it .The second car is a 19Gt in silver/champagne colour. It also looks clean and tidy but needs the auto choke sorting and the battery is goosed. She is away in Paris at the moment but is going to send more pics on reurning home. This car is 300 euros.Do these prices seem reasonable?Considering the extra expense involved in going over to get them?

Those prices sound really reasonable. If that '83 14 was a couple of trim levels lower it would just about be my ultimate BX. White base spec. Mmmmmm

Are there no import duties to pay anymore when bringing a cars into the countryfrom France? My understanding is that the Japanese import market has dried up because of the increased taxes nedding to be paid when importing now?

Nope because we recognised EU free movement of goods.

Unlike Ireland & Netherlands to mention two, that renamed their import duty "vehicle registration tax" and hump all imports.
