5.5J Silver Refurbished Speedlines With Great Tyres

Post by Tim Leech »

I have a set of 4 5.5J x 14 speedlines which have been professionally repainted so are ready to go, they come complete with 165/70 R14 tyres, they are all budgets but two are pretty much new and the others have 3/4mm. These wheels have NOT been fitted to a car since being refurbished.

It would cost at least £30 a wheel to get them refubed so with that in mind at £120 you get the wheels and tyres free and just pay for the refurb costs.

No wheel bolts supplied sorry.

165?
185 surely..
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

You did such an excellent job on re-furbing your alloys Tim I'm surprised you paid £30 per wheel on these. £120 with such shitty tyres seems expensive tbh

£30 is the going rate these days, I got it a bit cheaper through work but even so I think the price is fair, £30 per wheel x 4 is £120 excluding the price of the wheels or tyres in the first pace. If someone offeres me £100 then fine, if not then no worries I will keep them for a rainy day. The tyres are far from shitty though, ok not michelins but two new premium tyres would cost the asking price.

I meant shitty from a size point of view, I'm surprised they don't look a tad odd.
Michelins are overrated in my opinion to be honest, I don't know what the fuss is about.

Also didn't know alloys were worth that much, I shall ask more for my Xantia ones when I finally get round to putting them on fleabay

Tyres are the rub here Tim: if they were 185 profile - with life in them OK. And no bolts: find 16 bolts for under £20 and you're going to be very lucky.

I wonder why you don't want them since you refurbished them?

They were destined for the silver 16TRS, but as thats gone now they are surplus as I like the TZI as is, most BXs came with 165/70 tyres inc TZD turbos so I dont see what the hang up is about to be honest. I have a set of 185/60 tyres on 4 steels which if anyones interested which they could make a set from then sell the 165s to a BXer with steelies.

I could use the £100 towards taxing the TZI hence the sale.

Ah, I see.

8)

As for the tyres, I guess the fact they're GTi 5.5J alloys they are made for 185's... Having said that, I saw a Turbo diesel Ourane (Hurricane) in France with alloys and what apeared to be the standard 165's... all a matter of personal taste I suppose.

PS The above BX had air con too. Nice.

The tyres are the ones that were on the wheels when I bought them, as 2 of them are brand new it seems daft to chuck them. Chris Abbot with the 19TGD /BXI 700 has the same configuration with no problems. I thought the later steelies (black with the holes in them) were 5.5J anyway so shouldnt be a problem?

If i didnt have other issues to sort out on my fleet, i'd have taken them off you Tim. If you dont get your reserve on e-bay, just keep em in the garage, i'm sure that someone on here will eventually want to take them off your hands.

yep - that's a good idea... I'd be quite interested in them for my TZD but money's tight for a little while if I pay to get the head sorted out..
I think the 5.5J size look best on non 16v BX's.. I have a spare set of 6J dark grey alloys that I was thinking about putting on the estate but I know from my old 8v Gti that they look a bit too squashed, especially on the rear..
