I dont have a manifold though, not sure if the spares car has one!
Good point - I was kinda assuming it had. If it does then it's an opportunity not to be missed whoever ends up with it on their car.

wow first richard wanting to save it now ren16tx...i guess my hope of some parts are out the window. Ahh well as long as it gets saved.

ren16tx do you know of someone in the area who could check it out? (i think richard is still interested in it as he expressed a wish to save it on the first page.)

Steady on guys, as stated by the sounds of it this MK1 is rather pickled so dont expect to jump start it and head on down to the MOT station, anyone taking it on (I wish you all the luck) will be taking on a restoration project.

Anyone SERIOUSLY interested about taking it away then let me know and I will put you in touch, due to the poor guys failing health and him being housebound can you ensure you are in a position to follow it through, and maybe a small gesture of goodwill would be a nice touch even if its just a bottle of his favourate tipple?

Just to keep those interested in the picture.Ive ben talking with the Gentleman with the 2 cars this afternoon.Very nice chap but due to his health is no longer able to drive.Im going to view both cars shortly but here is the biggest problem with the mark1.His rear drive has been blocked off so the mk1 will have to be lifted over the hedge/fence.Ive been in contact with Phil who is after trim parts .The body is from what he says pretty poor.

Richard has the address, only thing is the guy is wheelchair bound so if you do go over you will have to help yourself.

If someone is careful and knows a friendly Hiab equipped driver (who isn't out pinching rare old Japanese cars) then it could probably be lifted over the fence.
There's every chance it will bend the roof though so if it is fit to go back on the road at some point you'd need to consider the potential damage.

If they loop the straps around the wheels it should be OK. We had a Discovery lifted a few months ago this way and no (further!) damage was caused by the lift.
