why are you selling it mate?
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

are you interested in a swap for an R plate XM 2.1TD VSX? 11 months Mot, 6 months tax, full Citroen service history - three owners from new (Citroen from 97-99, previous owner from 1999-2010, then me) - it's the green one in my sig.

What's persuaded you to sell, Paul? You seem to have had a lot of work done, and you were so keen to get one... Are there any glaring issues with the car at the moment?

having had a month of SWMBO nagging about too many cars at home, I've taken to driving one to work and driving the other home - and she will happily let me have a second (well, a third, really) taxed and MoT'd car on that basis.

I always was after a BX - and would happily swap for a tidy BX which is as nice as the XM is.

It has a few niggles* (none of which prevent it driving, it's just I like near perfection with the mechanical and electrical parts), but, as I have already explained to one member, I am slowly sorting these out as I get spares or time, or both. This weekend, I'm servicing the white one and doing the same with the green one when it returns home after the weekend on Monday night, so it would come serviced, with new coolant, two new spheres (fitted on rear), complete service history.

Do I have any criteria for a BX? Course I do - tidy, presentable inside and out, no visible rust, with a near year's ticket plus a valid tax disc, not too bothered about spec - it could be a 17RD or a 19Gti, it could be a hatch or an estate, preferred colours are white, black, blue, green.

You may think I'm picky, but I'm not - I don't mind a little work, but a major rebuild is not for me. Have a look at the flickr photos of my XM below and if you have a similar BX you fancy swapping, let me know.

PM me, I may just say yes.

*the niggles are, in no particular order:

1. sunroof works back and forward but does not stop in middle due to a 'bodge repair' I did on microswitch 5. New s/h working motor supplied.
2. driver's door window needs a look at - goes up and down but half way there is a wee crunch - I assume the runner is slightly blocked
3. slight dent on bonnet at rear, where something was dropped on car in storage
4. plip key doesn't work
5. heater control panel not working - fuse OK, not pulled panel off yet to check connections. Have sourced replacement panel.
6. front tyres had advisory on MoT - 3mm tread
7. front numberplate cracked

The reason is its becase theres quite alot of advereyes on it

Advisory items

Nearside power steering rams has slight seepage from a componment

Steering systerm slightley rough

Nearside Front constant veloc ity join gaiter deteriorated

Offside frount frount suspension has slight movement at a wishbone pin or bush

Nearside rear radius arm has slight play in a pin bus

Nearside frount brake hose slighty deteriorated

off side frount breake hose slighty deteriorated

Oil leak

I dont know what todo are they are really bad things. Could they go within the year Is it worth keeping it or selling it with full mot the only things it failed on was

offside rear breake cable steering systerm has a tyre fouling a part of the vehicle

offside Headlamp aim too high

But theses was sorted out didnt take to secs it didnt. to put right so the lads did it for us within the mot price That why it passed.

A xm would be nice but im shit with juging width of my car plus the inseriance would be to dear.

What would u do if you was me.

THANKS

The engine is superb starts every time. The leak ant that bad a liter of oil every 2 weeks. Just got to keep topping it up. I drive it every day nothing wrong with the engine. New cambelt new ignitors are in it.
done 160.000 nearly. The body work undernieth is really good. No rust on it Been waxed oiled. Undernieth and in the door pilloers. It could be a great car. The only odd things is the elec mirrior only goes up and down. passenger window and the bk right quater panle. Have a brown tint. And the passenger door is from a differnt car. So can only lock it from the driversside.
also the demister doesnt work on the boot. The boot is from a 16 valve.
Justt silly little picky things really.

Paul

none of that is really major - or it would have failed.

Lots will be OK till next MoT.
However, the CV gaiter needs done almost immediately as it will kill the cv joint. Gaiter is cheap cv joint is less cheap.

hoses - not too difficult to swap a hose over, ditto checking and perhaps replacing bushes.

I'd fix the oil leak if you can - where is it? A litre every two weeks is both messy and expensive - think of it as 25-30 litres of oil (6-7 gallons) a year and work out the cost benefit of fixing it.
