32k mile GTi 4x4 For Sale

Post by mat_fenwick »

I was contacted yesterday by Nigel from a Classic Car Club in London.
I have a low mileage 1992 BX 1.9 Gti 4x4 that I am about to advertise for sale.

It is black with an unworn cloth interior suggesting that the 32,000 miles on the clock are correct.

It is a RHD UK car with ABS, central locking, sun roof, alloy wheels and electric windows.

I have just taken some snaps of the car (attached) - I hadn't really driven
it before - it's amazing!

With that four wheel drive system it goes around corners like it is on
rails, it must be great in the rain.

It isn't perfect (it is almost 20 years old) but she is really solid and the
interior is lovely. There are a couple bits of loose trim and needs a bit of
paint here and there but nothing major. It would be great to run as is or to
take off the road and make perfect.
He is wondering about putting it on eBay (understandably as it will be difficult to price) but may be receptive to offers. His email address is:

Never done just 32 000, in my humble (hand wringing) opinion.

Without proof (and none has been mentioned) you would have to base the value on the condition alone....
I've asked for more photos of the engine and typical rot spots, which will give a further clue to the mileage and amount of care it's had.

You only have to look at the rear wash/wipe switch to get an idea

Hmm, London life can be very hard on a car but I wouldn't be completely convinced from the pictures that the mileage is correct.
Anyone else spotted the battery boost pack in one of the pictures by the way?

Funny site too http://www.classiccarclub.co.uk I don't think it's dodgy, but it's not the kind of classic car club I was thinking of, it's more like time share for cars.

I could be seriously tempted; I enjoyed mine until a local inbred crashed into it and then accused me of moving to his side of the road - that in a lane where you have to stop to let a cyclist get by. Yes, I'm still sore about it.

The problem will be senior management; even if I get it past her it is an often stated command that the M5 must go before I get another car. With real luck I might just get get approval for replacement of my CRV with another 4x4, but BX's aren't on her "I approve of that" list, and the M5 stays.

Do you reckon i could sell it as a better investment than having the money in the bank?

With the current interest rates being so low, i reckon if you got it for a fair price you could sell on for no loss & possibly a profit :D

I do like black bx's, no idea why but they kinda look different :?

What about all that rust behind the rear bumper? People see what they want to see I guess.
