Early Turbo Diesel for sale

I've had the following message which may be of interest to you Southerners!

I have a 1989 BX 16 turbo diesel which has done almost 250,000 miles, but I
feel that it is time to change it for a newer vehicle as there have been a
number of problems recently, mainly hydraulic pipe fractures and leaks,
which make me a little nervous when carrying my 90 year old mother in the
passenger seat.

I do not like the idea of a car I have treasured for 18 years going to the
breaker's yard, especially as it is in fairly sound condition and might be
suitable for restoration by an enthusiast. I do not want a great deal for
it, but it is taxed until July and has an MOT until May, and would welcome
your help in contacting any members who you feel might be interested. I live
in Greater London and am happy for anyone to view the car at their
convenience.

Obviously a very rare one! Or he meant 17...

I don't know the guy but he comes across as a decent chap on the emails. He's sent me a bit more info:

The BX is Pearl Grey and comes with some spray cans and tins of paint to match, including some primer and lacquer. The hydraulics seem to be OK at present, as quite a few of both the metal and rubber pipes have been replaced. Two bottles of LHM fluid are in the boot! However, I am a little nervous about taking my 90 year old mother out in the car in case something happens and we are stranded. I am not too happy to let the car go, but I have neither the time nor the skills to maintain the car myself and would like to see it sold to someone who can look after it properly. I would not be keen to see the car scrapped or broken for parts.

I will take some pictures when the weather is suitable and email them to you.

Price is negotiable as I am not looking to make a great deal out of this. I do, though, want to reach 250,000 miles before I sell it: there are 170 miles to go at present, so I suppose that a week or so would be about the time-scale we are looking at.

I live in SE London and would welcome visitors by appointment. The car is only insured for me to drive it.

I've already relocated 2 from down south to retire in the tranquill north I can't rescue any more.

I sent a quick email to Tony and he has replied - He's in Welling / Falconwood estate - I mentioned that sometimes BXClub members who are local to the car sometimes go and have a look and report back so if anyone is local and wants / has the time to go and have a look that's fine with him.

Tony has also offered to to drive the car to someone - if nearby - who has a ramp so that the underside can be viewed as well. He works weekends and has the weekdays free for someone to go and see the car.

He is sending over some pics as soon as the weather improves, and hopefully over the next week i should be able to head over take a look and hopefully buy!!!
