Urgetn carb required for 1984 BX 16 TRS...

Post by PhilGreaves »

erm well as the title says i need a new carb.

Got a phone call from my dad at 6pm when i was on the train coming backfrom town to say it had cut out (the car not my father!) and he'd left it on the street when hed shunted it at 2 pm (yeah 4 hours for a phone call!). Unfortunately its on a corner adn its icy so its really not safe.

As it was after 6 when i got in there wasnt much i could do. GM was closed and Grahams skiing and as its dark its hard to see where the smoke is coming from (dont ask). I phoned nigel about hte lpg stuff but cant really check it throoughyl until the morning.

Upshot is garage next door to gm who do lpg and nigel have both said the broken carb could be cuasing this. Whilst they may be able to trailer it away i still need the part however.

Also it will get round any lpg issues as it can run on petrol (well hopefully hasnt done for 8 months!)

So weber carb requierd please. I will pick up if local/roads are clear. Otherise ill pay for any postal/courier charges involved etc. As for the carb itself ill pretty much give anythign for a working one! lol im trusting you all not to rapidly increase the price as im in a hole.

I know Tim had a spare on and said he'd give it to me me but i havent heard anything from him for a while (my fault i shouldve chased it up!) Is it still available tim?

Really funny thing was i got it gonig once but parents were too busy talking to move it..and i darent without insurance..

Anyway hope you guys are doing better than me and Happy Christmas and a Happy new year to you all (and your bxs)...not to my bx though mine though; earls on the naughty list for this one!!

Thanks
phil
P.s sorry for any sloppy typing but my left arm is killing me- had a biopsy today...no dont ask!! lol.

Tim/Phil,
Use thisCOURIER (Interparcel Economy) !
It can get shipped for the cost of £8.22 (Interparcel Economy) it may be slightly more in the New Year when the VAT goes up !

There has been a slight change of plan. lol no one can really be bothered with it, and i dont have time/too ill. So its gonig to be low loaded to the garage. Full of parts.

oooo..thanks for the courier tip. Providing its ok/easy for you tim? (collection and stuff). lol not going to save a few quid if its more hassle for tim.

So carb will go straight there. Once i find the address.

I didnt dare try and start it again because the radiator has clearly gone.

And ive just talked to malcolm who isnt exactly convinced by all this lpg stuff. To be honest he said rip it off...hmm..it does have faults...hmm..guess il have to think about it. Nigel would kill me though!

Thanks guys (ill upload some pics later)

Weber carb

Post by electrokid »

Hi Phil,

Hope you're feeling better soon.

If the original carb is a DRTC then I'd be interested in buying the old one from you to fix and re-jet for my 1.9 4x4 which is a long term project so there's absolutely no rush at all.

Cheers,
Brian.
