BX Bumper Spoiler

Post by djm666 »

I am coming to the conclusion that there are no people left that would even think of selling me a bumper spoiler.

why does no body want to deal with me. my money is as good as anybody elses. whats the problem?

I want a bumper spoiler does anybody have one?
i can get it picked up and sent. there is no problem there.

anybody?

I guess you think they're more common than they actually are! I'm after one, as it Kermit. And I know a couple of people on here, plus you, after one too...

It's nothing personal, sir!

Is this the 'splitter' that we're referring to? My 16v is missing one too. I found a pic of me in a French scrapyard from two years ago standing right next to a scrap BX with one fitted. At the time I didn't know what it was and left it there..

I subsequently asked Remy to find one for me on one of his trips round the yards in Alsace. No luck in the last year and he used to have a few lying around, gave them all away, the last one to Swiss Carl for his BX Entreprise a couple of years back.

( In reality there are 100s of them hidden in secret underground storage units to make sure that none - at any cost - find their way to the colonies! )

bx splitter

Post by djm666 »

Really i kick myself when i think i scrapped so many BX's that had them. just did not think.

if someone has one i will have to get a pattern made. or i will have to go fully customised front bumper.

i cant beleive they are that rare.

are they no longer available in the uk? as i bought one for my bx in the uk about 5 years ago now i spos wrote the car off and scrapped it. bollocks.

ah well. will keep the eyes peeled.

They weren't fitted to that many models really ( any spotters confirm which ones?) and probably they were quite prone to damage.

I think they look good from the front but from the side sometimes they don't look quite right. I've got used to my 16v without one.

Maybe a version from other cars could be modified to fit. Perhaps a trip to the scrappy?

Hatch models only, early 16vs, later model Gti 8v (inc 4x4) and TZD Turbo, so yes they are rare.

there on the shelf next to the headlight protectors rear window louvres and sunroof wind deflectors. :D

funny how various cars have a few parts that becomes the "holy grail"

some in common with other cars,

volvo 340 owners crave cubby hole covers, head lamp covers, rear window louvres, a trip computer that sits on a stalk like a taxi meter and a snow cap which is a plastic cover that goes over the bonnet louvres.

with mk2 golfs its just a little plastic moulding that stops the clutch pedal from sitting too high that is nla from dealers.
electric mirrors , and electric sunroof motors ( which were aftermarket accessories and change hands for uo to £300)

I think the truth of the matter is we probably all wish we were still living in the 80's
