GTI steels

Post by Philip Chidlow »

Hi, no immediate rush, but I am after a set of GTi steelies with reasonable tyres and hopefully trims (post 1990 type if possible!), together with bolts.

I can wait until the National, I think - which would also be a good place to meet up.

Ta!

(As some may know, I have a good set of graphite Speedlines and Kleber 195s on the GTi, but if the GTi goes one day - I've had some interest - I would want to keep the wheels for a future TZD Turbo project)

Hi Phil

I am getting a set amongst the parts hoard from Scotland so you have first refusal.

What's the difference between the GTI steels and the 92 diesel steels?

I've got a pair from a 92 BX turbo diesel sitting on my drive free to anyone prepared to pick them up, they're 185/R14-88T, tyres are part worn but still with a few miles left in them. Gibbo.

The Gti steels are half an inch wider depending on the year Gibbo, if they are 5.5J x 14 then they are ideal.

Thanks, Tim. I'm also thinking I might want a 16v/late steering wheel. Anyone?

Phil, wasn't there one or even two Black 3 spoke steering wheels left over from the stock for the charity stall last year, but one did have a broken indicator/canceling lug broken IIRC ?

A plus point in my book! Nothing more annoying than indicators cancelling when you don't want them too.

All remaining BX parts went at last year's National. But as I haven't got the car yet, I don't even know if I'll want one! Just planning ahead...

 Oooh, look at your Mark Oneupmanship! I've 'modified' mine to do the same, but it catches Lana out if she ever borrows it...

I suppose a 'real' BX is one that can be driven on the road and actually used for what it was designed for.. not sat in a barn without a ticket like mine.
Work has halted while I'm doing the Mr. Mum stuff. Who'd have thought I'd be longing to have rust raining down on me again? :D
