Not sure which car you are on about which hasn't got tax? Anyway, its very easy to SORN a car, go to WWW.DIRECT.GOV.UK/TAXDISC & you can do it online.

Remember, if you SORN a vehicle it must be either on your private drive, garage or private land, it must not be on the road, you'll get fined.

Also don't rely on the DVLA to send out a reminder every year, you have to renew the sorn every year, whilst they normally do, they are not legally obliged to do so, so like someone i know recently who's been getting them regularly for years, one year he just got a fine through the letter box for not declaring sorn & he never got the renewal notice & forgot until the fine came through & he hasn't got a leg to stand on when you read the fine print. Well pissed off believe you me he was :x

Been in the same boat - I had a 'not declaring SORN' fine on a vehicle that was in storage shortly after moving house - I can only assume that the reminder was sent to the old house and crossed in the post with me sending off the V5 for change of address. I contested it but no success, and by that time had missed out on the 'pay early and only pay £40' so had to cough up the full £80!

Its the red txd which im getting. Got no tax on it thank god we have our own parking space. Well nearly each house as a parking space with a number on the wall. So i think that should be ok.

Dunno if it's still the case, but if it's on a trailer 'x' inches off the road it should be okay too... it certainly used to be that way.

Paul's only getting the BX delivered by the auctioneer's, he's not bought any trailers so he really need's to get it taxed if the parking area/spaces are classed as part of the public highway !

It all depends on who maintains the actual surface/kerbing of the parking bay's !

If it's the local council, this usually is classed as part of the highway, if the local council has passed the housing stock to 'Manage it's council houses' to a subsidiary/organisation or it's a housing association home which the parking bay's are designated for the tenants then the land is normally deemed as Private !

Im guessing its for the tenants. On the wall it has the house number. Mines 29 then it goes in order. Then theres signes saying no parking. So i think its for the people what own the house only.

I seem to remember there was a discussion on here earlier and it was said that amendments to the tax rules now apply on private land which is not part of the land forming part of your residential address. So even if parked in a private car park they can access and tow away or crush it was said................

you will not be able to tax it if it does not have current (on the day you get tax) MoT or insurance.

Paul. That car needs love and careful treatment. Don't rush into anything. It seems a good starting point, and although there might be problems remember to ask here first... :)

Paul, try swapping the battery out of your black one before fiddling with anything ;)
