Clock Issue

Post by loftus.hall »

Hi everyone,

Just this week my clock has started playing up, it was about 6 hours behind, thought it might be a loose power connection but the clock on the radio was correct, anyway last night on a long journey I watched it get to 11 pm and then get stuck there, trying to adjust the minutes just kept flicking back to 11:00 after adjusting the hours then the minutes resumed from where it left off. Weird.

Is it f'd? or is it just hot weather?

Does anyone have a spare or advice on which other car models might have the same on if I can't find a scrap bx? and while i'm here does any one have any of those black mushroom like things that hold the panels in on the hatchback boot interior... i'm finding all sorts of stuff disappearing down the slot between them and the wheel arch!

Cheers

Hi

I take it you mean the digital clock thats built into the tray in the middle of the dash? sounds like its busted, replacements are easy to find, the clock itself slides upwards out of the tray once you have undo the two screws and pulled the tray out.

I have a spare one if you need it.

Thanks

what year/engine type,

if its an early petrol car with the LED rev counter,

there was a technical bulittin/call back fix sent out to dealers,

eratic digital clock,

which stated to crip what actualy turned out to be a GS ignition condensor
(even though the part No. was diferent) into the rev counter feed, around the back end of the N/S inner wing,

the pulse from the LED rev counter was upsetting the digital clock,

It's a 1992 1.9 diesel so I guess that eliminates the rev counter as the cause.

I'm going try getting out tonight if I have time so may well be interested in the spare that is on offer....

I'll post back tomorrow after i've had a look... i'm half wondering that if something sticky has melted onto one of the time set buttons it might have caused it to get stuck every now and then, probably unlikely but it's surprising how often the unlikely can happen!!

I had an LCD clock in my Gti, it stopped working & when i removed it i realised that it was a replacement clock that worked off its own watch style battery which had gone flat :o

Was a bit like a time machine... I was watching it on a drive back from cornwall which did indeed seem to go on forever
