My TGD

Post by JayW »

In 2 weeks time i'll be selling my TGD:

1991 (H) in White.
80,000 miles
1.7 Turbo derv
6 months tax
7months MOT (passed with no advisories)
99% rust free (including all the usual places)

Since buying it last August it has had:

Octopus
Droplinks
Rear arm bearings
Balljoints
Full fluid and filter service
1 handbrake cable
LHM flush
Gearbox Oil.
5 new tyres
And a few other bits totalling over £500 (not including my time).
I will also be fitting new front pads next week as they are low.
Cambelt in 2009 25k ago

She has a 16v interior in excellent condition (standard steering wheel though), CD Player, all paperwork, service history and towbar with twin electrics.

Mechanically 100% sound with no nocks or faults, the engine is as strong as an ox (as you'd expect from low mileage) and it regularly returns over 50mpg AVERAGE and upto 60mpg on a long steady run (documented on the scotland trip last october).

It runs and drives as it should, it has never broken down since i bypassed the leaking fuel-heater when i first bought it. 110% reliable ever since.

All the consumables (including tyres) are excellent. I have looked after it!

I will of course be removing my 16v bumpers and putting the old plastic ones on and there is the dink in the drivers door/wing from last month but other than that the body is equally as good as the rest.

On the road for 6 months with no bills and would sail through another MOT (if you maintain it's current condition).

OIRO £525

Oh, has white GTi wheeltrims on GTi steelies with 185 tyres now:

Darn. That's perfect spec for me. Sadly, until my Saab 9000 sells, no funds!

I refer the right honourable gentleman to the forth line of the description above

Yes, has PAS.

Will look a bit different from the pic once the original plastic bumpers are back on it later this week.

It sounds a lame excuse, Jay, but I didn't have my glasses on! And as it is becoming clear, because I am now 50 I am falling apart mentally.

I am interested actually. I'm going to have a look at another car tomorrow (a little bit of an unknown quantity), but if it's not what I want, I'll be in touch very quickly.

Sounds like a good deal. Why are you selling it Jay? Are you getting out of BXs?

No, never, but I just fancied something bigger & more lazy.

The car is in Cornwall but could also be collected from Basingstoke.

I have a couple of people with interest in it.

I'll get some more up to date pictures up later in the week once the original bumpers are back on it.
