Lets hope there some slack in the prices  Otherwise they won't be getting rid of much to make more space. It needs to be at giveaway prices, as most people probably don't actually need the parts, they just are stocking up on them, well that's what i do.

That sums it up nicely Mulley.

If a part is needed for an immediate repair to keep a car on the road he would have a better chance but wouldn't they go to the local dealer anyway in that case. (but not for the parts that Cit has ratcheted to the sky  )

Good morning everyone,

First of all, most people commenting on this thread have all been quick to criticise the prices yet nobody has made me any counter-offers! I'm open to offers but on the same token I have to sell these parts at a price beneficial to the company, as well as you guys.

At the end of the day these parts are only going to increase in value as time goes on and as long as we have the storage space, we'll hang on to them.

Somebody enquired about a door mirror which I quoted £75, they said they could get a pair for £15. There's absolutley no way I could even come close to that sort of price and if they're the prices you expected then I'm sorry to dissapoint

Ok Ed

Thanks for the response, I think we all know where we stand, as for the value of the parts increasing as the years go buy I wouldnt agree with you on that one but after all they are yours to do with is as you like. I would imagine by now though being in the trade myself the prices have been "written down"to next to nowt.

I suggest the best way it to list THE lowest price you will take for each item and then let the guys decide if its worth it to them.

Cheers.

I've known some dealers just bin old stock (in one case only a few weeks before I enquired about it!) and in that case I've been able to buy parts for beer money. If in this case, storage isn't an issue then at least the parts aren't being scrapped - if and when we need them we can hopefully get them at less than list price.

All I can ask is that when storage does become an issue in the future, that these parts are again offered here at a lower price for the hoarders amongst us, to save them going to waste.

I don't agree with this. The BX is not a premium collectors car and most are hitting the scrap threshold now with just a few ( not very well off) enthusiasts like us keeping them running. We all scour Ebay for the bargains and here in Germany almost all 'dead stock' is available at rock bottom prices as dealers try to clear their storerooms before the stuff becomes unsaleable.

I personally think that you should put the whole lot on ebay and them you'll really see what its true value is.
Todd

i have boughtjob lots of dead stock from citroren/peugeot dealers,

and quite a lot is/was still for current models,

one pug dealer told me he makes a list of parts that have been on the shelves for a year, then once its been on his list for 5 years he just wants it gone,

i bought two van loads from a citroen dealer a couple of years back for £150 quid,

Thanks for the reply Ed and as stated the parts are yours to do what you please with but unfortunately the reason you have recieved such negative responces is that you have not done your market research with most of the prices quoted not just being a little high but more like up to 10 x their current market value. You have stated the parts are going up in value and without a crystal ball I couldn't argue but I personally think your storage / overheads costs will obviously outway any proffits made by the time you do sell them at the value you have put on them. You have stated you will hang on to them but it was you that approached us and I quote; ''we've accumulated a lot of old stock, ie AX, BX, XM Parts etc which we are looking to get rid of as soon as possible! ''
Thank you for letting us know you have the parts available and hopefully they will at some point in the future help BX owners keep their cars on the road.

Keep your parts, there just collecting dust on your shelves & will continue to do so at the sort of prices you think they are worth. I suggest you check e-bay & other motor factors for typical parts prices to give yourself an honest chance of pricing items to sell if you can be bothered

Ask yourself this, is someone with a car that cost them £500 going to buy a clock for £75??? Nope, they'll just pick up a 2nd hand one either gratis from other members on here or they might pay a fiver for one at one of the car meetings held regularly every year.

I have to agree with Todd. Few of us BX owners are able to spend daft amounts on parts and I can't see that changing anytime soon. People do seem to be paying a bit more for GS prices now, but that's for a car introduced in 1970, not 1982. I fear you'll be waiting for a very long time.

Mulley - "if you can be bothered" Think this is very unfair seeing as I have gone out of my way to create a list of BX Parts for you all.
