What great entertainment this is - (like) listening to a bunch of girls tittle tattling over grammer and spelling, covering the same ground week after week after week regarding BX values. I think some of you need a massive reality check and counselling.

thats why I like threads that go off topic now and again :D

I get fed up with all the bickering about what a cars worth ,

there are so many variables that may or may not matter to a potential buyer
for example mot length, mileage, condition, spec, extras, tax
service history( to some including me )

At the end of the day the value of any car is what a prospective buyer is prepared to pay for it and thats theres and the sellers buisness and no one else's.

Take my golf for example ,

it had a short mot ( two months ) six weeks tax and a massive folder of reciepts ,plus full service history,

I was happy to take a gamble and paid £500 for it ,

all it needed for the mot was a ball joint replaced.
A similar car with full mot is worth at least a grand so you could say for the sake of a twelve quid ball joint and the cost of an mot I saved £500.
Other people may not want to take a chance and are prepared to paymore for a car with a full ticket.

Best pack it again, mate. Judging by your list of wheels, it looks like you're on the wrong forum anyway.

Must have been. I wonder what's inside and where it was laid to rest? I hope you weren't careless with it, or the pikies will have it by now.

*sigh*, what a waste of a post Endosapp, and a case too I expect - I could just use a case...

I assume that no matter what website, dedicated to whatever make and model of car, you'll find similar debates rageing. Chin rubbing and 'sharp intake of breathing', saying; 'how much?' and 'you're 'avin' a laff!' are just part of the territory with blokes and their cars aren't they?

It's a shame, on rare occasions when it descends into mudslinging, but a little bit of wounded pride is the worst that ever happens and compared to other forums I've visited, it's a picture of civilisation in here believe me!

I think in the BXs case they're debates that are likely to carry on for a while yet. Over the last couple of years the perception of the BX has transitioned from 'banger' to a car really worthy of consideration as a 'classic'. Consequently, values have struggled to cope with that transition ( changing perceptions is cheap - putting your hand in your pocket isn't - particularly in the current economic climate!)

As long as they're debates carried on without too much acrimony and in a spirit of shared enthusiasm for these lovely motor cars, I think (as someone pointed out) they are indeed 'great entertainment' and actually par for the course. If they're debates that don't interest you very much, there's always the democratic initiative . . . vote with your feet!
