Is that an original Citroën 'stash tin' in pic no.7?

Hi Todd,
Just to make you/others aware the reason Richard asked the question if the Lower Rear wing sections are for a MK1 or MK2 is because that they ARE different but can be easily seen that they are for the saloon/hatchback models !

If you care to read thro' THIS thread for more info, which was (At the time) a link for an O/S MK2 quarter panel but I see that now has changed (I'll post a new posting up for what's changed)

Des Smith purchased that one and was looking for a N/S quarter panel too, to which Kevan put a link up but apparently (According to Tim) they where for the MK1's (I wonder if Des Smith has spotted/noticed the difference, as he bought one of these N/S quarter panel for his MK2 St. Tropez) ?

The Mk2 saloon/hatchback lower rear arches are flared out more from below the rubber buffer strip to make it easier when changing a wheel, also maybe so that it was possible to fit the 6" wide Speed-line alloys too ?

Also note that on the Estate's that this 'Extra' flared feature was not built into the MK2 estates hence the rear bumpers are identical/inter-changeable with the MK1 estate !

I hope this clears up this topic once again !

I too noticed 'The Tin' !

Oh poo! I have both O/S and N/S rear quarter panels ready to be fitted fairly soon. When they arrived I offered them up to the car and it looked right, but I'm going to have to have a closer look now.

Still, better than getting to the point where the old ones have been removed and the new ones don't fit.

If they are Mk 1 panels, can I assume some on the forum might want to take them on??

I've just checked out my rear quarter panels and they are definitely Mk 2 panels. There's a date stamp on one indicating it was made in 1986 and more significantly, they are one-piece panels that include the rear wheel spats. These piccies are spats from the rubbing strip down and so I would suggest they are for a Mk 1, and that the rear quarter panels must have originally been in two parts? Neil probably already worked this out...

Anyway, I'm a bit happier now. :D

I wouldnt go on the date made Des to designate what year of car they are for, you can still buy new panels OE panels for quite a few years after the finish making the car. Plus the Mk2 came out in August 1986.

On either Mk1 or MK2 cars you could buy the complete rear quarter or repair sections as in this case, although these are after market "veng" ones but I am sure would be fine.

Good point, Tim.

However, if they are Mk 1 panels, I can't see how they differ to the Mk 2, as the dimensions are identical and the profiles seem the same.

The serials are 95612062 and 063 if that helps for clarity. If that doesn't identify which Mk, perhaps there is no difference?

The panels are the same size etc, its just the arch itself itself is slightly more flared on the Mk2 and has a different lip.
