This happens a lot. Citroën (probably all manufacturers with the possible exception of Mercedes) will deliberately inflate the prices of parts for older models (for instance around £400 for a strut) and then, when nobody (in their right mind) orders the parts they will use this woeful lack of sales to justify no longer stocking them.
