Citroen Xsara 1.6 SX 16V

Post by stuart_hedges »

Evening all!

My word, what a long absence it's been. Blame O2 Broadband - I could never get on here while I was with them! I've switched providers now though, and here I am.

Sadly I've gone right off Citroens... and it's a modern one that's done it! I was persuaded to join the ranks of modernists and bought a 2002 Xsara but I've never liked it so it's up for sale. I'll let my ebay sale do the talking.

I'm going back to buying older, cheaper cars and running them to the end - I see no point in spending lots of money on a car as the Xsara has cost far more to run than any of my BXs and been much less fun and interesting to live with. I've had to revise my old £500 limit, but I reckon I can get something got for under £900 these days. The next wheels will most likely be a Volvo S40 or a Skoda Octavia... unless anyone's got a hydraulic Citroen in excellent condition at a sensible price?

If you're not too fussy about model there's no reason to raise your spending limit to get back into BX's. The last one I owned cost little more then £200 with a years MOT. When I sold it on 14 months later when i got the GS back on the road, I totted up the additional costs for the year and worked out I'd had over a years motoring for £150!

Good to speak to you again mate - have you still got that beautiful CX C-Matic?

I do still miss my last BX - the Xsara has better build quality and more gadgets, but the BX was better in all the ways that make it a car - better fuel consumption, more spacious inside, more fun to drive, more comfortable...
